Kelly Chau – San Francisco Wedding Photographer bio picture
  • Welcome to Kelly Chau Photography

CREATE. That's the theme of my life. I've always been a creator. In elementary school, I wrote and illustrated my own childrens' books, cleverly bound in covers of holiday wrapping paper. My desire to make art has never ceased since. My husband can attest to this, as he has witnessed my craft closet grow into an entire art room.

I fell in love with weddings while planning my own nuptials and writing for Weddingbee under the alias, Mrs. Eggplant. As an idealist and observer by nature, wedding photography is a match made in heaven. I live for the beauty of small moments: a father's loving gaze as he dances with his daughter, the smile of pride as a husband takes his vows, and the awe of a little flower girl as she admires a glowing bride. I especially adore photographing people in love! There's no greater joy than being around love. One of the best parts of being a photographer is meeing amazing clients who let me into their lives to document their stories. Marriage is one of life's greatest blessings and it's a privilege to to capture it in pixels

So, that's my story in a lens cap. I'd love to learn yours! Fill out the contact form and let's chat.

Babies Galore

I’ve been surrounded by babies lately! Coincidence? Or is someone trying to tell me something?:)

Here’s a teaser from Sunday’s mini-session that involved five-month old baby Ronin, a cutie-patootie who was an angel for the camera. Funny moment of the day: Ronin got hungry midway through his shoot, and as I was holding him, he turned toward me and made a beeline towards my chest. I believe he was looking for his dinner. Hehe.

More to come soon!

Yay, more babies!! No pressure, no pressure… and haha about him searching for food. It’s extra funny when they look for it from men and the horror on said men’s faces when they realize what’s happening. :)

this is one of my favorite shots!

A Sunny Party Theme

On Saturday, I had the honor of attending cute pie Kaelyn’s baby party. Kaelyn is incredibly lucky to have such loving and talented parents. Vir did such an amazing job with the candy buffet/dessert spread! I wish I had seen this inspiration while planning my own wedding. Amy Atlas would be so proud.

I LOVE the pennant banner that Vir made for Kaelyn’s name.

Check out the cute little bees buzzing around a gorgeous flower-topped cake! The details truly make this spread.

Yellow whirly pops. Even the name is adorable.:)

And the best part? Vir secretly told me all of the goods were store bought and many of the platters were borrowed. Wow! Presentation really makes a HUGE impact.

Below are a few more pictures from the party… I wish I took more photos but I was having so much fun talking to all the guests. I came by myself, a little self-conscious about not knowing anyone, but Jess & Vir’s family and friends were so sweet, I had nothing to worry about.

Vir and Jess displayed some of the photos from Kaelyn’s baby session. I especially love how the gatorfoam print turned out.  These are a great, inexpensive alternative to canvas wraps. I really like the clean black border around the foam core.

Last but not least, the sunny party invitation designed by Vir. I’m not exaggerating when I say that she is the best graphic designer that I know. I wish she would start a stationery line because I’d be her best customer.:)

If I ever host a party and I coincidentally happen to do the EXACT SAME dessert buffet spread, you can just pretend you never saw it on my blog.;)

The Story of Baby Kaelyn

Darling baby Kaelyn was born two months ago into the loving home of Virginia and Jess. They are two of the most genuinely sweet people I’ve had the pleasure to know. It’s no surprise baby Kaelyn has an equally sweet temperment.

Kaelyn has the cutest baby nursery ever, and you’d never guess it was decorated on a budget. Vir and Jess painted it the color of warm sunshine, accented with touches of fresh sea spray.

Vir ordered a precious tutu from Etsy especially for the photo session. How unbearably cute does Kaelyn look wearing it? Be still, my aching ovaries.:)

I loved watching Vir’s gentle nature with Kaelyn. She changed her several times throughout the session, each time comforting baby Kaelyn with her sweet voice.

Kaelyn is going to be the best dressed baby in history. I especially loved her yellow and white polka-dotted swimsuit. Why are baby clothes so much cuter than adult clothes?

Darling little Kaelyn isn’t much bigger than her beloved plushy Bear-Bear.

Jess and Vir obviously love baby Kaelyn with everything they have. It was such a privilege to document their family for an afternoon. And if I didn’t tell you that they made me want a baby of my own, I’d be lying.:)
